Hadith 999
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، قَالَ : ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : ثنا عَبْدَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ إِلَيَّ ، وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ وَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَلْحَنَ بِحُجَّتِهِ مِنْ بَعْضٍ ، فَإِنْ قَضَيْتُ لأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ حَقِّ أَخِيهِ ، فَإِنَّمَا أَقْطَعُ لَهُ قِطْعَةً مِنَ النَّارِ فَلا يَأْخُذْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا " ، الْحَدِيثُ لِهَارُونَ .
Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You bring your disputes to me, and I am only a human being. It is possible that one of you may be more eloquent in presenting his case than the other. If I judge in favor of someone, granting him a right that belongs to his brother, then I am in fact cutting a piece of fire for him. Therefore, he should not take anything from it." These are the words of the hadith narrated by Harun bin Ishaq.
