باب ما جاء في العمرى والرقبىWhat is reported about ‘umra and ruqba gifts
Hadith 987
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : ثنا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ أُعْمِرَ عُمْرَى لَهُ وَلِعَقِبِهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لِلَّذِي يُعْطَاهَا لا تَرْجِعُ إِلَى الَّذِي أَعْطَاهَا ، لأَنَّهُ أَعْطَى عَطَاءً وَقَعَتْ فِيهِ الْمَوَارِيثُ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever gives someone an ‘Umra (life grant) for him and his children, then it will belong to the one to whom it was given; the giver will not get it back, because he has given such a gift in which inheritance has taken effect.
