باب ما جاء في النذورWhat is reported about vows
Hadith 944
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، قَالَ : أنا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ إِيَاسَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ رَجُلا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أُخْتِي نَذَرَتْ أَنْ تَحُجَّ وَأَنَّهَا مَاتَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهَا دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتَ قَاضِيَهُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَاقْضُوا اللَّهَ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِالْوَفَاءِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My sister has passed away; she had made a vow to perform Hajj (what should I do?), he (the Prophet) said: If she had a debt, would you pay it off? He said: Yes! The Prophet said: Then fulfill Allah’s right as well, for He is more deserving that His right be fulfilled.
