باب ما جاء في النذورWhat is reported about vows
Hadith 935
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ أَعْيَنَ ، قَالَ : ثنا خَطَّابٌ ، قَالَ : ثنا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " النَّذْرُ نَذْرَانِ : فَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ الْوَفَاءُ ، وَمَا كَانَ لِلشَّيْطَانِ فَلا وَفَاءَ فِيهِ وَعَلَيْهِ كَفَّارَةُ يَمِينٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are two types of vows: the vow that is for Allah, its expiation is that it should be fulfilled; and the vow that is for Satan, it is not correct to fulfill it, and its expiation is that of an oath.
