Hadith 894

It was asked from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about eating the dhab (lizard). He replied: My maternal aunt Umm Hufaid sent a gift to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) consisting of ghee, cheese, and dhabs. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ate some of the ghee and cheese, and left the dhabs due to his own reason. If they had been unlawful, they would not have been eaten at the table of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), nor would the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have permitted their consumption.
