Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man from the tribe of Banu Bakr bin Laith came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and confessed four times that he had committed adultery with a certain woman. He was unmarried, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered him to be given one hundred lashes. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him for evidence against the woman, but the woman said: "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, he is lying." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered that he be given eighty lashes for false accusation (qadhf).
