Hadith 833
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ ، قَالَ : ثنا قُرَّةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ : أَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا ؟ قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَلَيْسَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ ؟ قُلْنَا : بَلَى ، قَالَ : فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا ؟ قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَلَيْسَ هَذَا ذَا الْحِجَّةِ ؟ قُلْنَا : بَلَى ، قَالَ : أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا ؟ قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَلَيْسَتْ بِالْبَلْدَةِ ؟ قُلْنَا : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ تَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ ، أَلا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ؟ قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ ، لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ ، فَرُبَّ مُبَلَّغٍ أَوْعَى مِنْ سَامِعٍ ، أَلا لا تَرْجِعُنَّ بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon to us on the Day of Sacrifice (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah) and said: "What day is this?" We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He remained silent until we thought he would give it another name. Then he asked: "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?" We said: Yes! He asked: "What month is this?" We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He remained silent until we thought he would give it another name. Then he asked: "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?" We said: Yes! He asked: "What city is this?" We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He remained silent until we thought he would give it another name. Then he asked: "Is it not (the sacred city of) Makkah?" We said: Yes! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has made your blood and your wealth sacred to you, just as this day of yours, this month of yours, and this city of yours are sacred, and this sanctity remains until the Day of Resurrection. Have I conveyed (the message of Allah)?" The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Yes! He said: "O Allah! Bear witness. Let those present convey this message to those who are absent, for sometimes the one to whom the message is conveyed remembers it better than the one who heard it. Beware! Do not turn back to disbelief after me, striking the necks of one another."
