Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid bin Asim Mazani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) poured water from a vessel onto both hands and washed them, rinsed his mouth three times, cleaned his nose three times, took water with both hands and started wiping (masah) from the front part of the head, moved both hands to the back, then brought them forward again.
