Hadith 685
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أنا دَاودُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، قَالَ : ثنا عَامِرٌ ، قَالَ : ثنا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى أَنْ تُنْكَحَ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا ، وَالْعَمَّةُ عَلَى بِنْتِ أَخِيهَا ، أَوِ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى خَالَتِهَا ، أَوِ الْخَالَةُ عَلَى بِنْتِ أُخْتِهَا ، لا تُنْكَحُ الصُّغْرَى عَلَى الْكُبْرَى ، وَلا الْكُبْرَى عَلَى الصُّغْرَى " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade marrying a niece in the presence of her paternal aunt, and forbade marrying a paternal aunt in the presence of her niece. He forbade marrying a niece in the presence of her maternal aunt, and forbade marrying a maternal aunt in the presence of her niece. One should not marry a woman of a lesser relationship in the presence of one of a greater relationship, nor marry one of a greater relationship in the presence of one of a lesser relationship.
