Hadith 663
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : ثني مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَجْلَى الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحِجَازِ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا ظَهَرَ عَلَى خَيْبَرَ أَرَادَ إِخْرَاجَ الْيَهُودِ مِنْهَا ، وَكَانَتِ الأَرْضُ حِينَ ظُهِرَ عَلَيْهَا لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فَأَرَادَ إِخْرَاجَ الْيَهُودِ مِنْهَا ، فَسَأَلَتِ الْيَهُودُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيُقِرَّهُمْ بِهَا عَلَى أَنْ يَكْفُوا عَمَلَهَا وَلَهُمْ نِصْفُ التَّمْرِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نُقِرُّكُمْ بِهَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ مَا شِئْنَا " فَقَرُّوا بِهَا حَتَّى أَجْلاهُمْ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى تَيْمَاءَ وَأَرِيحَاءَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) expelled the Jews and Christians from the land of Hijaz. And when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) conquered Khaybar, he also intended to expel the Jews from there. When he achieved victory there, its land became the property of Allah, His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Muslims. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to expel the Jews from there, but the Jews requested him to let them stay there, saying that they would work on the land of Khaybar themselves and take half of its produce. Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Alright, we will let you stay here on this condition as long as we wish." Thus, they remained there, and then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) exiled them towards Tayma and Ariha.
