Hadith 614
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، قَالَ : ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهُمْ يُسْلِفُونَ فِي الثِّمَارِ فِي السَّنَتَيْنِ وَالثَّلاثِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَسْلِفُوا فِي الثِّمَارِ فِي كَيْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مَعْلُومٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, the people there used to sell fruits on credit for two or three years. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sell fruits on credit (salam) by specifying the measure and the period."
