Hadith 605
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ ، قَالَ : ثنا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ النَّخْلِ حَتَّى تَزْهُوَ ، وَعَنِ السُّنْبُلِ حَتَّى يَبْيَضَّ وَيَأْمَنَ الْعَاهَةَ ، نَهَى الْبَايِعَ وَالْمُشْتَرِيَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling dates before they ripen (turn red), and forbade selling ears (of wheat) before they turn white, until they are safe from calamities. He forbade both the seller and the buyer.
