Hadith 577
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُقْرِئِ ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ آدَمَ ، قَالا : ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : وَبَلَغَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلا بَاعَ خَمْرًا ، فَقَالَ : قَاتَلَ اللَّهُ فُلانًا ، أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " قَاتَلَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ ، حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّحُومُ فَأَجْمَلُوهَا فَبَاعُوهَا " ، زَادَ مَحْمُودٌ : وَأَكَلُوا أَثْمَانَهَا ، وَقَالَ مَحْمُودٌ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that when he received news that a certain man had sold wine, he said: "May Allah destroy that person! Does he not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'May Allah destroy the Jews; fat was made unlawful for them, so they melted it and began to sell it.'" In Mahmood's narration, there is the addition: "They began to consume its price."
