Hadith 558
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ لِرَجُلٍ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سِنٌّ مِنَ الإِبِلِ فَجَعَلَ يَتَقَاضَاهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَعْطُوهُ ، فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُ إِلا سِنًّا فَوْقَ سِنِّهِ ، فَقَالَ : أَعْطُوهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَوْفَيْتَنِي أَوْفَى اللَّهُ لَكَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ خِيَارَكُمْ أَحْسَنُكُمْ قَضَاءً " .
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) owed a man a camel (on credit). The man came to demand it from him, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Give him his camel.” The companions could not find a camel of that age, but found a camel older than that. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Give him that one.” The man said: “You have paid me in full, may Allah reward you in full.” The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “The best among you is the one who pays back in the best manner.”
