Hadith 394
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا يَحْيَى هُوَ الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ " فَقِيلَ : إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade continuous fasting (joining one fast to another without breaking the fast at sunset). Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! But you observe continuous fasting? He replied: I am not like you; I am given food and drink at night.
