Hadith 376
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، قَالَ : أَنَا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَوْ قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، شَكَّ شُعْبَةُ : " صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَعُدُّوا ثَلاثِينَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), or Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him), said (Shu’bah was in doubt): Fast upon sighting the moon and break the fast upon sighting the moon. If the sky is cloudy, then complete thirty days.
