Hadith 312
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، قَالَ : أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : أنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمًا وَالنَّاسُ وَرَاءَهُ ، فَجَعَلَ يُصَلِّي فَيَرْكَعُ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُ يَرْجِعُ الْقَهْقَرَى وَيَسْجُدُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فَيَرْتَقِي عَلَيْهِ كُلَّمَا سَجَدَ نزل ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ ، قَالَ : " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنِّي إِنَّمَا صَلَّيْتُ لَكُمْ هَكَذَا كَمَا تَرَوْنِي فَتَأَتَمُّونَ بِي " .
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer on the pulpit, while the people were behind him. When he rose from bowing (ruku’), he stepped backward and prostrated on the ground, then climbed the pulpit again, and for prostration descended again. After finishing, he said: O people! I have led you in this prayer so that you may follow me in the same manner as you have seen me.
