Hadith 304

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُقْرِئِ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ رِجَالا يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلاةَ ثُمَّ آمُرُ فِتْيَانِي فَيُخَالِفُونَ إِلَى قَوْمٍ لا يَأْتُونَهَا فَيُحَرِّقُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ بُيُوتَهُمْ بِحُزَمِ الْحَطَبِ ، وَلَوْ عَلِمَ أَحَدُهُمْ أَنَّهُ يَجِدُ عَظْمًا سَمِينًا أَوْ مِرْمَاتَيْنِ حَسَنَتَيْنِ لَشَهِدَ الْعِشَاءَ " .
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I intended to order someone to lead the prayer, then I would go with some young men carrying bundles of wood to those who do not attend the congregation and burn their houses down. If anyone knew that he would get a meaty bone or two fine shanks, he would surely attend the ‘Isha prayer."
