Hadith 301
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ " اسْتَخْلَفَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ الْجُمُعَةَ ، فَقَرَأَ بِهِمْ بِسُورَةِ الْجُمُعَةِ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الأُولَى ، وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ : فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ مَشَيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : لَقَدْ قَرَأْتَ بِسُورَتَيْنِ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقْرَأُ بِهِمَا فِي الْكُوفَةِ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ بِهِمَا " .
Ubaidullah bin Abi Rafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Marwan appointed Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) as the governor of Madinah. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) led them in the Friday prayer, and in the first rak’ah he recited Surah Jumu’ah and in the second Surah Munafiqun. Ubaidullah says: When Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) was about to leave, I walked with him and said: You recited the same surahs that I heard Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) recite in Kufah. He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite these surahs.
