Hadith 279
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : فِيمَا قَرَأْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ نَافِعٍ ، وَحَدَّثَنِي مُطَرِّفٌ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُوتِرُ مِنْهَا بِوَاحِدَةٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغَ اضْطَجَعَ عَلَى شِقِّهِ الأَيْمَنِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فَيُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ " .
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray eleven rak'ahs at night, which included one witr. When he finished the prayer, he would lie down on his right side, until when the muezzin came (to announce the prayer), he would perform two short rak'ahs.
