Hadith 183
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُمْ يَجْهَرُونَ بِ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة: ١] ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: قُلْتُ لِقَتَادَةَ: أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I prayed behind the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Sayyiduna Umar, and Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them), and I heard them reciting «بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم» aloud. Imam Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Imam Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him): Did you yourself hear (this from Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him)? He replied: Yes!
