Hadith 151
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَزِيعٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، قَالَ: أَنَا إِسْحَاقُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ وَقْتِ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ: " صَلِّ مَعَنَا هَذَيْنِ فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا حِينَ زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَأَذَّنَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ بَيْضَاءُ نَقِيَّةٌ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْمَغْرِبَ حِينَ غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْعِشَاءَ حِينَ غَابَ الشَّفَقُ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْفَجْرَ حِينَ طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الثَّانِي أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُبْرِدَ بِالظُّهْرِ فَأَنْعَمَ أَنْ يُبْرِدَ بِهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ يَعْنِي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ الَّذِي كَانَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْمَغْرِبَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغِيبَ الشَّفَقُ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْعِشَاءَ حِينَ ذَهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْفَجْرَ فَأَسْفَرَ بِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنْ وَقْتِ الصَّلَاةِ؟» فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَقْتُ صَلَاتِكُمْ مَا بَيْنَ مَا رَأَيْتُمْ».
Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask about the times of prayers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Pray with us for two days." So, when the sun declined, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he gave the adhan. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Zuhr. Then, by his order, he gave the iqamah for Asr while the sun was still high, white, and clear. Then, when the sun set, by his order, he gave the iqamah for Maghrib. Then, when the twilight disappeared, by his order, he gave the iqamah for Isha. Then, when Fajr appeared, by his order, he gave the iqamah for Fajr. Then, when the second day came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal to delay the Zuhr prayer, so he delayed it considerably. Then, by the Prophet’s order, he gave the iqamah for Asr while the sun was still high, but much later than the first day. Then, by the Prophet’s order, he gave the iqamah for Maghrib before the twilight disappeared. Then, by the Prophet’s order, he gave the iqamah for Isha after a third of the night had passed. Then, by the Prophet’s order, he gave the iqamah for Fajr when the light had spread. Then he said: "Where is the person who asked about the times of prayers?" That man stood up and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The time of your prayers is between what you have seen."
