Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, before the treaty was concluded, some slaves of the people of Makkah ran away and came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and became Muslims. Their owners sent a message to you from Makkah: "By Allah, O Muhammad! They have not come to you out of love for your religion, rather they have only run away from slavery." Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Messenger of Allah! They are telling the truth, so send them back." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry and said: "O group of Quraysh! I think you will not desist until Allah imposes upon you someone who will strike your necks because of this religion." He refused to send them back and said: "Allah Almighty has set them free."
