Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Return my cloak, return my cloak! By Allah, if I had as many camels as the trees of Tihamah, I would distribute them among you, and you would not find me miserly, cowardly, or a liar. Then he stood by a camel and took a hair from its hump and said: O people! Apart from the khums (one-fifth) of your spoils, even this much is not lawful for me, and the khums is also returned to you. So, return even a needle and thread, for betrayal will be a source of shame, Hell, and disgrace for the betrayer on the Day of Resurrection. An Ansari brought a bundle of hair rope and said: O Messenger of Allah! I took this rope to sew a cover for my camel. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The rope of my share has been given to you. (I am not responsible for the rest.) He said: If the matter is so severe, then I have no need for it.
