Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I saw Marwan bin Hakam sitting in the mosque, so I also went and sat with him. Marwan told us that Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) had informed him: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dictated to him this verse: ﴿وَلَا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ... وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ﴾ (An-Nisa: 95) (The believers who sit [at home] and those who strive in the cause of Allah are not equal). (Furthermore, Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that) during this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umm Maktum also came and said: O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, if I had the strength to strive, I would surely go out for jihad. He was a blind man, so Allah Almighty sent down revelation to His Messenger. The blessed thigh of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was on my thigh, and it became so heavy that I feared my thigh would break. When the state of revelation ended, Allah Almighty revealed the words: ﴿غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ﴾ (An-Nisa: 95) (except those who are disabled).
