Hazrat Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a man praised another man in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Alas! You have cut your companion’s neck. You have cut your companion’s neck," several times (the Prophet repeated this in the same way). Then he said: "If it becomes necessary for someone to praise his brother, then he should say: 'I consider so-and-so to be such-and-such, and Allah knows best. I cannot declare anyone to be free of faults before Allah. I think he is such-and-such,' if he knows that about him."
