Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you pass by the ruins of those who were punished, then pass by weeping. If you cannot weep at that moment, then do not pass by them at all. Lest the same punishment that befell them also befall you.

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): The companions camped with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the dwellings of Thamud, at Hijr, and they filled their vessels with water from its wells and kneaded dough with that water. But the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered them to pour out the water they had filled in their vessels and to feed the kneaded dough to the animals. Instead, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed them to take water from the well from which the she-camel of Salih (peace be upon him) used to drink.
