Hadith 1807
1807 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: خَلَقَ اللهُ آدَمَ، وَطُولُهُ سِتُّونَ ذِرَاعًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اذْهَبْ فَسَلِّمْ عَلَى أُولَئِكَ مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ، فَاسْتَمِعْ مَا يُحَيُّونَكَ تَحِيَّتُكَ وَتَحِيَّةُ ذُرِّيَّتِكِ فَقَالَ: السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقَالُوا: السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ فَزَادُوهُ، وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ فَكُلُّ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى صُورَةِ آدَمَ، فَلَمْ يَزَلِ الْخَلْقُ يَنْقُصُ حَتَّى الآنَ
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When Allah the Exalted created Adam (peace be upon him), He made him sixty cubits tall. Then He said: Go and greet those angels, and listen to how they reply to your greeting, for that will be the way of greeting for you and your descendants. Adam (peace be upon him) went and said: As-salamu alaikum (peace be upon you). The angels replied: As-salamu alaika wa rahmatullah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah). They added the phrase "wa rahmatullah." So, whoever enters Paradise will enter in the form and stature of Adam (peace be upon him). Since Adam (peace be upon him), mankind has been decreasing in stature up to now.
