Hadith 1700
1700 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسى: يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا، خَيَّبْتَنَا، وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ: يَا مُوسى اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلاَمِهِ، وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ، أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسى ثَلاَثًا
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Adam and Musa (may Allah have mercy on them) had a debate." Musa (peace be upon him) said to Adam (peace be upon him): "Adam! You are our father, but it was you who deprived us and brought us out of Paradise." Adam (peace be upon him) said to Musa (peace be upon him): "Musa! Allah Almighty chose you for His speech and wrote the Torah for you with His own hand. Do you blame me for an act which Allah had written in my destiny forty years before He created me?" In the end, Adam (peace be upon him) prevailed over Musa (peace be upon him) in the debate. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated this sentence three times.
