Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that this verse was revealed about us (i.e., Banu Haritha and Banu Salama): (idh hammat ta'ifatani minkum an tafshala) (Aal-e-Imran: 122) "When two parties from among you were about to lose heart." I do not wish that this verse had not been revealed, because Allah further says, "And Allah was their protector." (So, how great an honor it is for us to have received Allah's guardianship.)

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I was greatly grieved over those who were martyred at the place of Harrah. Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) came to know of my sorrow, so he wrote to me that he had heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who was saying: O Allah! Forgive the Ansar and also forgive their sons.

Hadith 1632
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Ansar are my body and soul. A time will come when other people will become numerous, but the Ansar will remain few. Therefore, honor their virtuous ones and overlook the mistakes of their wrongdoers.
