Hazrat Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I did not hear from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about anyone except Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) that he is among the people of Paradise. Hazrat Sa'd narrated that the verse (And a witness from the Children of Israel testified) (__QUR_46_10__) was revealed about him.

Qais bin ‘Abadah narrated that I was sitting in the Prophet’s Mosque when an elderly man entered the mosque, on whose face were visible signs of humility and devotion. The people said: This elder is among the people of Paradise. Then he performed two short rak‘ahs of prayer and left. I followed him and said: When you entered the mosque, the people said that this elder is among the people of Paradise. Upon this, he said: By God! It is not appropriate for anyone to utter such a thing about someone of which he has no knowledge, and I will tell you why this is so. In the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), I saw a dream and related it to the Prophet (peace be upon him). In my dream, it was as if I was in a garden, and then he described its vastness and its green fields. In the middle of this garden was an iron pillar, its lower part in the ground and its upper part in the sky, and at its top was a dense tree. I was told: Climb up it. I said: I do not have the strength. Then a servant came and lifted my clothes from behind, so I climbed up, and when I reached its top, I grabbed hold of that dense tree. I was told: Hold this tree firmly with all your strength. While I was holding it with my hand, I woke up. When I related this dream to the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said: The garden you saw is Islam, and the pillar in it is the pillar of Islam, and the ‘urwa (the dense tree) is the ‘urwatul-wuthqa (the firmest handhold), so you will remain steadfast on Islam until your death. This elder was Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him).
