Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that my father's body was brought from the field of Uhud. (The polytheists) had disfigured his face. The corpse was placed before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a cloth covering it from above. I wanted to remove the cloth, but my people stopped me. Then I tried again to remove the cloth, but again my people stopped me. After that, by the order of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the funeral was lifted. At that time, the sound of someone weeping loudly was heard, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Who is this?" The people said, "This is Amr's daughter," or (they said), "Amr's sister" (Sufyan was doubtful about the name). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why is she weeping?" or he said: "Do not weep, for the angels have continuously been shading him with their wings until his funeral was lifted."
