Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Some of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him, "Who among us will join you first in the Hereafter?" He (peace be upon him) replied, "The one whose hand is the longest." So we started measuring with a stick, and Sawda (may Allah be pleased with her) turned out to have the longest hand. Later (upon the death of Zainab, may Allah be pleased with her), we understood that by "the longest hand" he meant the one who gives the most in charity. And she was the first among us to join the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Giving charity was very beloved to her.
