Hadith 1570
1570 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ حَارِثَةَ، مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مَا كُنَّا نَدْعُوهُ إِلاَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْقُرْآن (ادْعُوهُمْ لآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللهِ)
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him), used to be called by us as Zaid bin Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), until the verse was revealed in the Noble Qur'an: "Call them by (the names of) their fathers; that is more just in the sight of Allah."
Hadith 1571
1571 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْثًا، وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، فَطَعَنَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ فِي إِمَارَتِهِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنْ تَطْعُنُوا فِي إِمَارَتِهِ فَقَدْ كُنْتُمْ تَطْعُنُونَ فِي إِمَارَةِ أَبِيهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ، وَايْمُ اللهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَخَلِيقًا لِلإِمَارَةِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ، وَإِنَّ هذَا لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ بَعْدَهُ
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent out an army and appointed Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) as its commander. Some people objected to his being made the commander. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "If you are objecting to his being made the commander today, then before this you also objected to his father's being made the commander. By Allah, he (Zaid, may Allah be pleased with him) was worthy of leadership and was the dearest to me, and this one (Usama, may Allah be pleased with him) is now the dearest to me after him."
