Hadith 1538
1538 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه، قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَنْ أَكْرَمُ النَّاسِ قَالَ: أَتْقَاهُمْ فَقَالُوا: لَيْسَ عَنْ هذَا نَسْأَلُكَ قَالَ: فَيُوسُفُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ابْنُ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ابْنِ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ابْنِ خَلِيلِ اللهِ قَالُوا: لَيْسَ عَنْ هذَا نَسْأَلُكَ قَالَ: فَعَنْ مَعَادِنِ الْعَرَبِ تَسْأَلُونَ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الإِسْلاَمِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "Who is the most honorable?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The one who is the most pious." The companions said, "We are not asking you about this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then (it is) Allah's Prophet Yusuf, son of Allah's Prophet, son of Allah's Prophet, son of Allah's Khalil (the most honorable)." The companions said, "We are not asking about this either." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Alright, you want to ask about the families of the Arabs. Listen, those who were honorable in the time of ignorance are honorable in Islam as well, when they gain understanding of the religion."
