Hadith 1505
1505 صحيح حديث عَائِشَةَ، أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أَنَّ الْحارثَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ رضي الله عنه، سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ يَأْتِيكَ الْوَحْيُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَحْيَانًا يَأْتِينِي مِثْلَ صَلْصَلَةِ الْجَرَسِ، وَهُوَ أَشَدُّهُ عَلَيَّ، فَيُفْصَمُ عَنِّي وَقَدْ وَعَيْتُ عَنْهُ مَا قَالَ وَأَحْيَانًا يَتَمَثَّلُ لِي الْمَلَكُ رَجُلاً فَيُكَلِّمُنِي فَأَعِي مَا يَقُولُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةَ: وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ فِي الْيَوْمِ الشَّدِيدِ الْبَرْدِ فَيَفْصِمُ عَنْهُ، وَإِنَّ جَبِينَهُ لَيَتَفَصَّدُ عَرَقًا
Mother of the believers, Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Hazrat Harith bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah, how does revelation come to you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Sometimes I hear a sound like the ringing of a bell when revelation comes to me, and this state is very hard upon me. When this state ends, what the angel has conveyed as revelation is preserved in my heart and mind. And sometimes the angel comes to me in the form of a man and speaks to me, and I remember what he says." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) states, "I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when revelation was descending upon him during extremely cold weather, and when the revelation ended, his blessed forehead would be dripping with sweat."
