Hadith 1454
1454 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَصْدَقُ كَلِمَةٍ قَالَهَا الشَّاعِر، كَلِمَةُ لَبِيدٍ أَلاَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلاَ اللهَ بَاطِلُ وَكَادَ أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The truest word spoken by a poet is the verse of Labid, which is: "Everything except Allah is perishable." The poet Umayyah bin Abi al-Salt was close to accepting Islam.
Hadith 1455
1455 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لأَنْ يَمْتَلِىءَ جَوفُ رَجُلٍ قَيْحًا يَرِيهِ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِىءَ شِعْرًا
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If any one of you fills his stomach with pus, it is better for him than to fill it with poetry.
