When someone passed away in a house and, because of this, women would gather there and then leave, and only the family members and a few close women remained, the purified wife of the Noble Prophet, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), would order that talbina be cooked in a pot. It would be prepared, then tharid would be made, and talbina would be poured over it. Then Umm al-Mu'mineen Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) would say: "Eat it, for I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that talbina soothes the heart of the sick and relieves his sorrow."
