Hadith 1363
1363 صحيح حديث أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ: لاَ تَدْخلُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلاَ صُورَةُ تَمَاثِيلَ
Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The angels do not enter a house in which there are dogs, nor in which there are images (statues)."
Hadith 1364
1364 صحيح حديث أَبِي طَلْحَةَعَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ، حَدَّثَهُ، وَمَعَ بُسْرٍ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ الْخَوْلاَنِيُّ، الَّذِي كَانَ فِي حَجْرِ مَيْمُونَةَ رضي الله عنها، زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَدَّثَهُمَا زَيْدُ ابْنُ خَالِدٍ أنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ: لاَ تَدْخُلُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ صُورَةٌ قَالَ بُسْرٌ: فَمَرِضَ زَيْدُ ابْنُ خَالِدٍ، فَعُدْنَاهُ فَإِذَا نَحْن فِي بَيْتِهِ بِسِتْرٍ فِيهِ تَصَاوِيرُ، فَقُلْتُ لِعُبَيْدِ اللهِ الْخَوْلاَنِيِّ: أَلَمْ يُحَدِّثْنَا فِي التَّصَاوِيرِ فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ قَالَ: إِلاَّ رَقْمٌ فِي ثَوْبٍ، أَلاَ سَمِعْتَهُ قُلْتُ: لاَ قَالَ: بَلَى، قَدْ ذَكَرَه
Busr bin Sa'id narrated, and from him Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, and (the narrator of the hadith) Ubaidullah Khawlani also participated in the narration along with Busr bin Sa'id, who was raised in the care of the purified wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). Both of them narrated from Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a picture (of a living being)." Busr narrated that then Zaid bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill and we went to visit him at his house. There was a curtain in the house on which there were pictures. I said to Ubaidullah Khawlani, "Did he not narrate to us a hadith regarding pictures?" He replied that Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) had also said that if there are designs on cloth (and not pictures of living beings), then that is excluded from this ruling. "Did you not hear this part of the hadith?" I said, "No." He said, "Yes! Zaid also narrated this."
Hadith 1365
1365 صحيح حديث عَائِشَةَ رضي الله عنها، قَالَتْ: قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِنْ سَفَرٍ، وَقَدْ سَتَرْتُ بِقِرَامٍ لِي، عَلَى سَهْوَةٍ لِي، فِيهَا تَمَاثِيلُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، هَتَكَهُ، وَقَالَ: أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِين يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ، قَالَتْ: فَجَعَلْنَاهُ وِسَادَةً أَوْ وِسَادَتَيْنِ
Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey (the expedition of Tabuk), I had hung a curtain with pictures on it over the canopy of my house. When he saw it, he pulled it down and threw it away, and said: "On the Day of Resurrection, those who will be subjected to the severest punishment are those who try to create like Allah’s creation." Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Then I tore it and made one or two cushions out of that curtain.
Hadith 1366
1366 صحيح حديث عَائِشَةَ، أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رضي الله عنها، أَنَّهَا اشْتَرَتْ نُمْرُقَةً فِيهَا تَصَاوِيرُ، فَلَمَّا رَآهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَامَ عَلَى الْبَابِ فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْهُ، فَعَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتُوبُ إِلَى اللهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَاذَا أَذْنَبْتُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا بَالُ هذِهِ النُّمْرُقَةِ قُلْتُ: اشْتَرَيْتُهَا لَكَ لِتَقْعُدَ عَلَيْهَا وَتَوَسَّدَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ أَصْحَابِ هذِهِ الصُّوَرِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُعَذَّبُونَ فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ أَحْيُوا مَا خَلَقْتُمْ وَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْبيْتَ الَّذِي فِيهِ الصُّوَرُ لاَ تَدْخُلُهُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that I bought a cushion which had images on it. As soon as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, he stood at the door and did not enter. (Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that) I saw signs of displeasure on the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I said, “O Messenger of Allah! I repent to Allah and seek forgiveness from His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Please tell me, what mistake have I made?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “What is this cushion?” I said, “I bought it for you so that you may sit on it and lean against it.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “But the makers of such images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them, ‘Give life to what you have created.’” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said that the angels (of mercy) do not enter houses in which there are images.
Hadith 1367
1367 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَصْنَعُونَ هذِهِ الصُّوَرَ يُعَذَّبُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، يُقَالُ لَهُمْ أَحْيُوا مَا خَلَقْتُمْ
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those who make these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: Now put life into what you have created.
Hadith 1368
1368 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا عِنْدَ اللهِ، يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، الْمُصَوِّرُونَ
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I heard from the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, those who make images will face the severest punishment from Allah.
Hadith 1369
1369 صحيح حديث ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، إِذْ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ إِنِّي إِنْسَانٌ إِنَّمَا مَعِيشَتِي مِنْ صَنْعَةِ يَدِي، وَإِنِّي أَصْنَعُ هذِهِ التَّصَاوِيرَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاِسٍ: لاَ أُحَدِّثُكَ إِلاَّ مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مَنْ صَوَّرَ صُورَةً فَإِنَّ اللهِ مُعَذِّبَهُ حَتَّى يَنْفُخَ فِيهَا الرُّوحَ، وَلَيْسَ بِنَافِخٍ فِيهَا أَبَدًا فَرَبَا الرَّجُلُ رَبْوَةً شَدِيدَةً، وَاصْفَرَّ وَجْهُهُ فَقَالَ: وَيْحَكَ إِنْ أَبَيْتَ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَصْنَعَ، فَعَلَيْكَ بِهذَا الشَّجَرِ، كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِ رُوحٌ
Saeed bin Abu Al-Hasan narrated that I was present with Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) when a man came to him and said, "O Abu Abbas! I am among those whose livelihood depends on the work of their hands, and I make images/statues." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said to him, "I will only tell you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He said, "I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever makes an image/statue, Allah will punish him until he breathes life into it, and he will never be able to breathe life into it." (Upon hearing this) the man's breath became heavy and his face turned pale. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "Alas! If you must make images/statues, then make images of trees and anything that does not have a soul."
Hadith 1370
1370 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ دَارًا بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَرَأَى أَعْلاَهَا مُصَوِّرًا يُصَوِّرُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ: وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذَهَبَ يَخْلُقُ كَخَلْقِي، فَلْيَخْلُقُوا حَبَّةً، وَلْيَخْلُقُوا ذَرَّةً
Abu Zar’ah narrated that I went with Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) to (the house of) Marwan bin Hakam in Madinah Munawwarah. There he saw a painter on the roof who was making a picture. He (Abu Hurairah) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say (Allah the Exalted says): Who can be more unjust than the one who tries to create like My creation? If he is so proud, then he should create a grain, he should create an ant.
