Hadith 1318
1318 صحيح حديث أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فِي دَارِنَا هذِهِ، فَاسْتَسْقَى، فَحَلَبْنَا لَهُ شَاةً لَنَا، ثُمَّ شُبْتُهُ مِنْ مَاءِ بِئْرِنَا هذِهِ، فَأَعْطَيْتُهُ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، وَعُمَرُ تُجَاهَهُ، وَأَعْرَابِيٌّ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ، قَالَ عُمَرُ: هذَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَأَعْطَى الأَعْرَابِيَّ ثُمَّ قَالَ: الأَيْمَنُونَ، الأَيْمَنُونَ، أَلاَ فَيَمِّنُوا قَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَهِيَ سُنَّةٌ، فَهِيَ سُنَّةٌ، ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that once the Noble Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house and asked for water. We had a goat, which we washed. Then I mixed water from the same well in it and presented it (as lassi) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting to his left, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was in front, and a Bedouin was on his right. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished drinking, some milk was left in the bowl, so Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) suggested that it be given to Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it to the Bedouin (because he was on the right side). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one sitting on the right, the one sitting on the right has the right. So beware! Always start from the right side. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is the Sunnah, this is the Sunnah. Three times Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) repeated this statement.
Hadith 1319
1319 صحيح حديث سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِقَدَحٍ، فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ غُلاَمٌ، أَصْغَرُ الْقَوْمِ، وَالأَشْيَاخُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا غُلاَمُ أَتَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَهُ الأَشْيَاخَ قَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ لأُوثِرَ بِفَضْلِي مِنْكَ أَحَدًا، يَا رَسُول اللهِ فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ
Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a bowl of milk and water was presented to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace be upon him) drank from it. On his right side, a young boy was sitting, and some elderly men were sitting on his left side. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “O boy! Will you permit me to give this bowl first to the elders?” The boy replied, “O Messenger of Allah! I cannot give up my share from your leftover to anyone else.” So the Prophet (peace be upon him) gave the bowl to him first.
