Hadith 1277
1277 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَجُلاً يَخْذِفُ فَقَالَ لَهُ: لاَ تَخْذِفْ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهى عَنِ الْخَذْفِ، أَوْ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ الْخَذْفَ وَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ لاَ يُصَادُ بِهِ صَيْدٌ وَلاَ يُنْكَى بِهِ عَدُوٌّ، وَلكِنَّهَا قَدْ تَكْسِرُ السِّنَّ وَتَفْقَأ الْعَيْنَ ثُمَّ رَآهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَخْذِفُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: أُحَدِّثكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ نَهى عَنِ الْخَذْفِ أَوْ كَرِهَ الْخَذْفَ، وَأَنْتَ تَخْذِفُ لاَ أُكَلِّمُكَ كَذَا وَكَذَا
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a person throwing pebbles, so he said: "Do not throw pebbles, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade throwing pebbles, or (he stated that) the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not like throwing pebbles, and said that neither can hunting be done with it nor can any harm be caused to the enemy. However, it may break someone's tooth or injure an eye." After that, he again saw that person throwing pebbles, so he said: "I am narrating to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he forbade throwing pebbles or disliked throwing pebbles, and you are still throwing them. I will not speak to you for so many days."
