Hadith 1192
1192 صحيح حديث أَبِي مُوسى رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزَاةٍ، وَنَحْنُ سِتَّةُ نَفَرٍ، بَيْنَنَا بَعِيرٌ نَعْتَقِبُهُ، فَنَقِبَتْ أَقْدَامُنَا، وَنَقِبَتْ قَدَمَايَ، وَسَقَطَتْ أَظْفَارِي، وَكنَّا نَلُفُّ عَلَى أَرْجُلِنَا الْخِرَقَ، فَسُمِّيَتْ غَزْوَةَ ذَاتِ الرِّقَاعِ، لِمَا كُنَّا نَعْصِبُ مِنَ الْخِرَقِ عَلَى أَرْجُلِنَا وَحَدَّثَ أَبُو مُوسى بِهذَا، ثُمَّ كَرِهَ ذَاكَ، قَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ أَصْنَعُ بِأَنْ أَذْكُرَهُ كَأَنَّهُ كَرِهَ أَنْ يَكُونَ شَيْءٌ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ أَفْشَاهُ
Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that we set out with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for a battle. We were six companions and had only one camel for all of us, on which we would ride in turns. (Due to the long and arduous journey on foot) our feet became cracked, and my feet also became cracked, and the nails had also fallen off. So we were tying cloth strips on our feet and walking. That is why this battle was named "Dhat al-Riqa'," because we had tied strips on our feet. Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith, but then he felt it was not good to express it. He said that I should not have narrated this hadith; he felt it was not appropriate to reveal his good deed.
