Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said on the day of the Battle of Badr, "Who will go and see what has happened to Abu Jahl?" Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) went to find out and saw that the two sons of Afra had killed him and his body had become cold. He caught hold of his beard and said, "Are you Abu Jahl?" He replied, "Is there any man greater than the one whom his people have killed today?" Or (he said), "You people have killed him."
