Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the injury of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the battle of Uhud. He replied: The blessed face of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was wounded, his front teeth were broken, and his helmet was broken on his blessed head (which caused wounds on his head). Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was washing the blood, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was pouring water. When Fatimah saw that the blood continued to flow, she burned a mat and applied its ashes to the wounds of the Prophet (peace be upon him), which stopped the bleeding.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: It is as if I am seeing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at that moment, describing an incident of a prophet from the Children of Israel. His people beat him and made him bloodied, but that prophet kept wiping away the blood and kept praying: "O Allah! Forgive my people, for they do not know."
