Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man as a collector in Khaybar. That person brought a high-quality type of date. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired whether all the dates of Khaybar were of this kind. He replied, "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah! We buy one sa’ of these dates by giving two sa’ of inferior dates, and sometimes we take two sa’ in exchange for three sa’." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not do so. Instead, sell the inferior dates first and then buy the good quality dates with that money."

Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) brought Barni dates (a superior type of date) to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Where did you get these from?" He replied, "We had inferior dates. We exchanged two sa' of them for one sa' of these so that we could feed them to you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Oh! Oh! This is usury, absolutely usury. Do not do this. However, if you intend to buy good dates, then sell the inferior dates and buy the superior ones with that price."

Hadith Takhrij«صحیح، أخرجه البخاري في: 40 كتاب الوكالة: 11 باب إذا باع الوكيل شيئًا فاسدًا فبيعه مردود»
Hazrat Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that we used to receive different types of dates together (from the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him), and we used to sell two sa' of dates in exchange for one sa'. Upon this, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that two sa' should not be sold in exchange for one sa', nor should two dirhams be sold in exchange for one dirham.

Abu Salih Ziyad heard from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a dinar can be exchanged for a dinar and a dirham for a dirham (sold in exchange). Upon this, I said to him that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) does not permit this. Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that then I asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) about this, whether you heard this from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) or found it in the Book of Allah? He said that I do not claim either of these things. You people know the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) better than I do. However, Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said (that in the mentioned cases) usury only occurs in the case of credit.
