Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that many of us had extra land. They said that why should we not give it on sharecropping for a third, a quarter, or a half? Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has land should cultivate it himself, or give it as a gift to his brother, and if he cannot do that, then he should keep the land with himself.
