Hadith 985
985 صحيح حديث زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْخَصَ لِصَاحِبِ الْعَرِيَّةِ أَنْ يَبِيعَهَا بِخَرْصِهَا
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted the owner of ‘Ariyyah to sell its fruits in exchange for an estimated amount of dates.

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling dates that are still on the tree in exchange for dates that have been picked. However, he permitted the practice of ‘Ariyyah, allowing it to be sold by estimation so that the owner of the ‘Ariyyah may eat fresh dates in exchange for them.

Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the sale of Muzabanah, that is, selling dates on the tree in exchange for dried dates, except for those who practice 'Ariyyah, to whom he granted permission.

988 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا فِي خَمْسَةِ أَوْسُقٍ أَوْ دُونَ خَمْسَةِ أَوْسُقٍ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted the sale of ‘Ariyyah in five wasq or less.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Muzabanah. Muzabanah is that dates on the tree are sold by measure in exchange for dried dates, and similarly, grapes on the vine are sold in exchange for raisins.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade muzabanah, that is, selling the fruits of a garden—if they are dates—in exchange for measured dried dates, or if they are grapes, selling them for measured dried grapes, or if it is a crop, selling it for measured grain. He forbade all such types of transactions.
