Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the sale of grain over which possession had not yet been taken. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas said: I consider all things to be under the same ruling. (That is, whatever thing is purchased, it should not be sold before taking possession of it.)

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person buys any kind of grain, he should not sell it until he has taken full possession of it.

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): People used to go to the upper side of the market, buy grain, and start selling it right there. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this, saying that grain should not be sold there until it has been moved to another place.
