Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not go out to meet (trade) caravans (before they reach the market), and no townsman should sell goods on behalf of a villager." (The narrator says:) I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas about the meaning of the Prophet’s statement that no townsman should sell the goods of a villager. He replied: "It means that he should not act as a broker."
