Hadith 768
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah performed Tamattu’ in the Farewell Pilgrimage, that is, he performed ‘Umrah and then Hajj, and he offered a sacrifice. He took the sacrificial animal with him from Dhu’l-Hulayfah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) first entered into Ihram for ‘Umrah, then proclaimed Talbiyah for Hajj. The people also performed Tamattu’ with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that is, they performed ‘Umrah and then Hajj. However, many people took the sacrificial animal with them, and many did not. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Makkah, he said to the people: Whoever has brought the sacrificial animal with him, nothing that he has made unlawful upon himself (due to Ihram) becomes lawful for him until his Hajj is completed. But those who have not brought the sacrificial animal, they should perform Tawaf of the House (Ka‘bah), and after performing Sa‘i between Safa and Marwah, they should have their hair cut and become lawful (i.e., come out of Ihram). Then, for Hajj (on the eighth of Dhu’l-Hijjah), they should enter into Ihram again. If such a person does not find a sacrificial animal, he should fast three days during the days of Hajj and seven days after returning home. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah, the first thing he did was perform Tawaf, then he kissed the Black Stone. In three circuits he performed Raml (brisk walking), and in the remaining four, he walked at a normal pace. After completing the Tawaf of the House, he prayed two rak‘ahs at the Station of Ibrahim. After finishing the prayer, he went towards the hill of Safa and completed the Sa‘i between Safa and Marwah in seven circuits. The things that he had made unlawful upon himself due to Ihram did not become lawful for him until he had completed the Hajj and slaughtered the sacrificial animal on the Day of Sacrifice (the tenth of Dhu’l-Hijjah). Then he returned (to Makkah), and when he performed the Tawaf al-Ifadah of the House, everything that had been unlawful due to Ihram became lawful for him. Those who had brought the Hady (sacrificial animal) with them did as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had done.

Hadith 769
Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) informed me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed Hajj and Umrah, and the people also performed Hajj Tamattu‘ with him. This hadith is similar to the previous hadith of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (number 768).
